My actual first post!

August 13, 2022

It’s now 9:48PM, I have a live website pushed from my Mac to GitHub and then deployed to Cloudflare Pages.

Actually scratch that, why did I start typing this in the Notes app when I now have a “fully functioning” blog to write this on. - Typed in my index.md file within where I can see the example blog posts live. Hopefully I’ve done this right, oh I can see this without pushing the changes live.. gatsby develop - I feel like those letters on my keyboard will become worn out in time.

Okay I’ve done something wrong, time to look at the example posts.

Turns out the thing I’d done wrong was.. wait for it.. not saved the file I was editting, why yes I am quite the developer now.

Now back to what I was saying 40 minutes ago; We are coming to you live! via a Github commit and Cloudflare build! I’m about 4 hours into my journey with Gatsby and so far really enjoying it, pretty awesome how it all comes together. Besides some small hurdles like needing to learn git (haven’t used it for about 7 years and even then my use was setting up machines and the base repo for dev’s, not actively using it myself).

Since we have working a basic blog post now is time to edit the template and put some of my info into it!

11:34PM - have now pushed this page to live, added a dummy logo and learnt that I need to learn git a bit more. Spending half my time ?pushing? to github, it’s okay we’ll get there! But just wanted to say, damn, this website is fast. When I was doing research I saw Static Websites were speedy but wow.

Midnight - Okay that’s enough for today, great start and lots to learn. So far really loving it!
